Five newspapers named World's Best-DesignedTM by judges at SU
The below Flash program was produced by and for Newhouse School students, faculty & staff, along with other viewers, to give them an opportunity to quickly view the World's Best-Designed Newspapers™ winners for the year 2008. The competition and judging was hosted and co-sponsored by the Newhouse School at Syracuse University. All events took place on the SU campus in February, 2009. NEWHOUSE SCHOOL ALUM STEVE DORSEY, deputy managing editor for presentation and innovation at the Detroit Free Press, was the top man covering the annual World's Best-Designed NewspaperTM competition. JUDGES & FACILITATORS began the 30th Edition SND judging of categories 2 thru 19 with an opening reception and dinner on the eve of the judging, Friday, Feb. 13, 2009. This traditional event took place in the third, and newest, building at Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications. The School is co-sponsor of the yearly international design competition. The Society for News Design sponsors the annual competitions along with a multi-media competition hosted at another university.
