The Poynter Institute for Media Studies in St. Petersburg, Fla. has a design / graphics section on its site with a wealth of information about design, color use, day-to-day design news and opinions and this is just the beginning of the coverage which is updated daily. It also covers writing / editing, photojournalism, TV / radio, diversity & ethics issues and has helpful tips in the design, print and electronic media areas, to mention just a few. Dozens of seminars are offered each year with registration requirements and forms on this site. Some seminars are free to educators and students!
The Visual Editors site provides message boards, blogs and multimedia journalism learning tools for students. If you haven't checked out this site, it's well worth some quality time. As you'll find out, not every designer thinks alike. This is the place to go if you'd like to read, and perhaps join in, on some lively debates -- right or wrong. This site provides a wonderful service to students as well as professional designers.
